Kim Tiemens

MSW, RSW

Social Worker, Psychotherapist

Sometimes life is hard. It’s during these times that increasing our resources through connecting with a counsellor can help make a difference. Kim practices from a collaborative, strengths-based perspective to create a safe space for clients to reflect, grieve, process thoughts and feelings and enhance skills in order to better navigate challenging times.

Kim has been practicing as a registered social worker since 1995, obtaining her Bachelor of
Social Work and Master of Social Work degree from the University of Calgary. Her practice
includes additional training in Eye Movement, Densitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Bereavement and Palliation, and Narrative Therapy. She is a firm believer in ongoing learning.

She has worked in numerous health care settings helping clients and their families cope with sudden, chronic or life limiting illness. At North Counselling and Psychotherapy, Kim provides services for adults and practices from a framework of trauma informed care. She has special interest in helping clients process grief, loss, stress and anxiety.
